Memories into Memoir Workshop with Author Irene Graham - based upon The Memoir Writing Workbook 

  • September, Thursday 30th @ The National Library of Ireland Kildare St, Dublin 2, Ireland
  • 11am to 4pm (Lunch 1-2pm not included), 4 Hours Total 

This 4 hour Introduction Workshop to Memoir Writing is for new and established writers interested in writing memoir. 

Throughout the workshop Irene will guide the participants through the elements of memoir writing using her innovative Memoir Map from The Memoir Writing Workbook. You will engage with numerous right-brain/left-brain exercises and visual writing techniques from the workbook and learn how to use them on an ongoing basis to evoke and enhance memory recall.  You will also learn the importance of structure and engage in discussions on truth and how to incorporate the retrospective voice into your memoir.  

This workshop will kick-start your writing and show you how to write a creative memoir, in a step by step process, as you creatively translate life experience into memoir. 

Note: There is no charge for this workshop. Participants are required to purchase their personal copy of The Memoir Writing Workbook prior to the workshop which will be used throughout the workshop. The workbook is available in The National Library Shop at €39.95

Memories into Memoir Workshop with Author Irene Graham - based upon The Memoir Writing Workbook

3 day Memoir Writing Workshop to explore and discover personal memoir writing using right-brain/left-brain learning techniques that will help you tap into your creativity and draw upon your well of life experience. This workshop also provides writers interested in writing fiction with a bedrock of life experiences that can be used as base material in fiction writing.

It will be a time to discover and enhance your unique writing voice as you define your experiences and learn how to write from the heart of personal understanding. You will discover how to think like a writer and draw upon the myriad of incidents that make up your life story and path.

You will explore theme and its associated meaning as you learn how to translate your personal story into creatively writing and structuring your memoir. By using various creative writing techniques you will be encouraged to capture significant life events as you learn how to focus your memoir, include your retrospective voice and how to engage with truth in the writing of creative non-fiction.

This workshop will help you unblock creativity and evoke your imagination as you develop and write your memoir. Open to new and established writers.

Note: This workshop does not enable individuals to ‘teach’ memoir writing. It is aimed at individuals who want to encourage friends and family to join in a group with each individual in their group using their personal copy of The Memoir Writing Workbook. 

Throughout the workshop Irene will guide the participants through the elements of memoir writing using her innovative Memoir Map from The Memoir Writing Workbook. You will engage with numerous right-brain/left-brain exercises and visual writing techniques from the workbook and learn how to use them on an ongoing basis to evoke and enhance memory recall.  You will also learn the importance of structure and engage in discussions on truth and how to incorporate the retrospective voice into your memoir. The workshop will also cover how to form a Memoir Writing Club and how to guide a club on an ongoing basis – which is also included in The Memoir Writing Workbook.  

This workshop will kick-start your writing on an individual writing basis and show you how to write a creative memoir, in a step by step process, as you creatively translate life experience into memoir.
